But today the veil of secrecy is lifted and we can bring you the full unexpurgated version of events: the 9-5 photo gallery and details behind the new Saab that will, next spring, finally replace one of the most geriatric cars on sale today.Yes, the current 9-5 is – bewilderingly – 12 years old, a surefire indication of just how low down General Motors' pecking order Saab lay. Although developed under GM's tenure, the new 9-5 is a beacon of hope for the now-independent Saab.
Huge news at Mercedes-Benz: Engineers from its AMG performance-car offshoot are developing a plug-in electric version of the upcoming SLS supercar as part of a broad-based efficiency program to place the automaker at the leading edge of socially acceptable performance-car motoring. Tentatively planned for production in 2015, the new zero-emission supercar draws heavily on the production version of the yet-to-be-fully-revealed SLS scheduled to get its first public outing at the Frankfurt motor show on Sept. 15.

The last report we did on Ken Block was after he delighted Top Gear’s James May with his antics in California, but now we have what can probably best be described as a comic teaser for what will be his next big video outing – Gymkhana 3.0. In this video – dubbed Gymkhana 2.1 – Ken Block gets a new sidekick – professional skateboarder Rob Dyrdek – who takes to a ‘Mini-Me’ kart version of Ken’s WRX Subaru in a playful drifting and playing game. The video is full of amusing comparisons, but just in case you don’t get it’s supposed to be funny we get treated to the Benny Hill theme tune – you know, the one where Benny gets chased in quick-time by a bunch of be-stockinged lovelies.
